Danielle Le Chat admits she never stops learning from pottery — and that's what she loves most about her profession. But creating the brand we know and love today, Calico Ceramics, was no simple feat. It was after months of illness and the birth of her daughter that Danielle decided to turn her favourite hobby into the now-thriving Cape Town-based studio that specialises in creating custom ceramics for life’s special moments (and people). Her labour of love not only does bespoke orders — they also have a range of delicate handcrafted creations such as mugs, coasters, wall hangings, customisable cake toppers and lapel pins. If you fancy trying your hand at the famous pottery scene from Ghost (minus Patrick Swayze), Calico Ceramics also does wildly popular in-person and online pottery workshops which were introduced in 2019.
