The artist behind Carlita Hearts, Carla Sissing, has always loved stationery. New pencils and notebooks at the start of the school year, browsing through stationery aisles, and experimenting with new art supplies made her heart beat faster. In 2007 she bought herself an inexpensive watercolour paint set to create visuals for her preschool Sunday School class. As word got out about her creations, she quickly became the go-to friend for creating greeting cards and wall art whenever there was an occasion to celebrate. When a good friend suggested she sell her art, she took the plunge and Carlita Hearts was born. For Carla, inspiration comes from her family, botanicals, and natural landscapes. She’s drawn to muted colours, and her designs are simplistic, evoking a sense of calming joy.
