Sari for Change

Since their inception in 2015, Sari for Change has repurposed the Indian sari, often worn once and discarded, into new designs, making it wearable to all cultures. Their mission is to create beautiful, timeless pieces that are both stylish and socially conscious. The brand started with creating bold kimonos and today boasts a collection of dresses, kaftans, drawstring pants and even puffer jackets, ensuring every inch of pre-loved sari fabric is utilised with zero waste. They use one sari per garment, which means every piece is as unique as its wearer. But most impressive is Sari for Change’s commitment to empowering unemployed women. Through their training hub based in Johannesburg, Sari for Change is able to continuously upskill women, allowing them to eventually enter the clothing manufacturing industry, create their own business or become a supplier for Sari for Change. Now that is a cause we can get behind, all while looking stylish in a fabulous kimono.
