Using a pesky beach towel to cover up as you attempt to change out of a wetsuit in a parking lot or public space is a struggle that surfers and ocean lovers know all too well. Luckily local surf and lifestyle brand Mahina’s cotton changing towels have you (literally) covered. Mahina (meaning moon) was born when founder and surfer Paige Bannatyne set out to purchase a changing towel for herself but was unable to find a local product made from natural fibre. With a focus on the origin of fabric and supporting our local economy, the brand creates towels that are 100% South African, using cotton grown in Mpumalanga and then lovingly handmade in Cape Town. Thanks to a classic design available in various sizes for adults and kids, these oversized poncho-like towels can be used by just about anyone to change in and out of clothes in a public space with convenience and ease. Whether it be surfing, free diving, swimming, sailing or kayaking, Mahina celebrates the freedom water brings and feeling just as comfortable outside the water as you do inside.
