Akal Esh

Akal Esh is a narrative body of poetic work created by Christine Lazarus, who was inspired by the joy and fervour of her profound religious convictions to pen a series of exultant Afrikaans poems underpinned by themes of wholeness, intimacy, identity, and thankfulness. The author then collaborated with her daughter-in-law, fine artist Lizelle Lazarus, to create a beautiful poetry anthology illustrated with meditative artworks that were inspired by the emotions the poems unleashed within the artist. To allow readers to pen down their own thoughts and meditations while they are immersed in the poetry, a series of Akal Esh journals were created to correspond with the work's main themes. Lizelle's artworks are also available as block-stretched linen prints upon request.
