When Nicky tried her hand at the ancient art of flower pressing, she wanted to capture these beautiful botanicals in a modern way. After creating her first botanical wall hanging, she wanted to treasure this within her own space and assumed others may feel the same - this marked the birth of Velt. Just as an artist uses paint or any other materials to create a composition, Nicky works with delicately preserved botanicals to create unique pieces of art. Inspired by the changing seasons, each composition has its own unique colour and form. From intricately patterned leaves and African grasses to brightly coloured flowers and preserved real-life seaweeds - Nicky works with a diverse range of ethically sourced South African foliage. Each piece is elegantly displayed between two pieces of high-quality exhibition glass, and sealed with a thin hand-soldered brass frame - this unique, minimal frame design ensures the plant specimens are the star of the show.
