The hoop story begins in a small carpentry workshop in Brittany, where five French siblings grew up among plumes of sweet-smelling sawdust before making their way to South African shores in the slipstream of their Capetonian-born father. Fast-forward a few decades later and three of these well-travelled Franco-African descendants were ready to take their learnings from the worlds architecture, finance, and property management to come together and create something meaningful. Inspired by childhood memories of their father's workshop and everything they have learned about great design and responsible business along the way, the result is Hoop - an innovative furniture and design company fostered in a culture of sustainability, fairness, and transparency. Starting with a range of flat-pack furniture crafted from safe, non-toxic materials using thoughtful design for easy, intuitive assembly, their aim is to positively impact people without adversely affecting the planet. So far, this philosophy has inspired a range of tables, seating, and storage solutions, as well as a buy-back & resell platform to boost the circular economy while treading lightly on the earth.
